Just got the Hollowpoint setups complete and went for the first ride today, just went around down. Found come great jumps to tackle, decent sized roots to hop over, and logs to cross. Got a great feel for how she's gonna handle, if weather permits, were gonna go hit some trails tommorow. I would recommend this bike to anyone looking for a good Fullsuspension bike. Although it is a bit heavy out of the box, some people switched tires saying that getting a lighter set of tires can shave off at least a pound. But I'm not very heavy (110 lbs.), so a little weight doesn't really effect me.

Actually, a little weight affects YOU more! You at 110 lbs are riding (let's assume a 27 lb bike) Your bike to rider ration is close to .25 (I didn't do the actual calc) Whereas, I'm closer to 240 lbs and ride a 31 lb bike, my ratio is aroun .13

So, and I'm too tired to remember which Physics principle, but proportionally you must exert more energy to push your bike. So weight for a lighter rider is even more significant.

Am I making sense? No! I didn't think so! I just can't sleep!

We mods all had Simpson Avatar's for awhile. I kept mine because I like Barney, but it was getting old. I use Cartman from SouthPark on Ridemokey, so I may bring him over here, but he's saying "Screw You Guys, I'm going Home" So, I figured it might not be appropriate for a Mod to have that!

if youve ever met A2 or seen pics you may really enjoy the irony of the new avatar. I like the new one brother.that is so you (the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys) in that you may be above 30 in years but you still enjoy life like a kid!!!

sorry to digress.any weight you can save with the bike to you ratio will be a big difference in not only how the bike handles but also in your longevity. nice bike BTW congratulations on it. unlike Florida we in the more northern areas of the south can ride trails. take it out and rip up some dirt with it. A2 i hope you can get offroad too. it seems weird no major named storms coming up the coast

just went offroad the other day and it handled GREAT, i never noticed anything about the weight

if you are happy with the way it handles dont change a thing. the Maxxis it came with are a nice choice for a stock item on that bike but I am not sure of their weight. Ironhorse is a nice bike IMO

I'm trying to get my head around that with little success First rider = 110 lbs + 27 Lbs = 137 lbs. Second rider = 240 lbs + 31 lbs = 271 lbs. Seems the second rider has to work significantly harder (exert more energy) to move the total mass.

I know I can ride faster and climb easier when I weigh 10 lbs less than I do now. Am I missing something?

It's a proportion thingy. Rider 1 has a bike weight to rider weight proportion of .25. If rider 2 had the same proportion, it would be like riding a bike that weighs 60 lbs!!!!

Granted it's probably not a straight scaling proportion, but I was just hypothosizing anyways!

110 divided by 27=4.07. 240 divided by 31=7.7. as you can see a little weight can make a much bigger difference on the first than on the second equation thats before you add the motion and the energy required to make motion.if you remember the old Cadilacs from the 60s and 70s they weighed a lot and took more energy to get going but they rolled real fast and far. the Datsuns weighed squat and took little to make go but if you had a flat on the Caddi you may not even know it. on the Datsun youd stop dead almost right away. the flat is like adding weight take away the weight (or add air) and it makes a much bigger difference to the lighter than the heavy. just my 2 cents( plus another $1.98) as I said before if it works for you dont change it
