OK, so I kinda stole this thread from somewhere else. So sue me. But this was too cool to not pass along to you good folks here.

How 'bout 2x4 - - utilizing a Hammerschmidt front and and ingenious, slick lil' custom derailleur:

You could have at least composed a variant thread title, d!

Seems like a whole lot of complicatedness to mitigate (not solve) a problem I rarely encounter. Occams Razor Fail.

That thing definaly has a very interesting look to it. I wonder how well it works and if it has any effect on the rider.

True, not a solution. I still prefer a gearbox ultimate solution; thought it was an interesting exercise nonetheless.

Alright, B - - is that better?

I have heard something about single speed bikes. What a stupid idea, even for paper boys!

I like the revised title - it's very Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Me too, but as you well know I'm only interested if it's CVT. Why can't some of these smart guys go ahead and make one already?

Probably because shimano and sram would get taken to the slaughterhouse if a good cvt that was realistically priced came on the market. And all you would really need to pull this off would be iscg tabs.
