29er tire pressure
What is a good tire pressure for rocky singeltrack?. I was running 30lbs, and felt like I was being bounced all over the place. Later on I got a flat. Wasn't sure if it was a pinch flat. Any recommendations? I ride a ridgid Vassago Bannersnatch with 2.1 WTB tires.

35-40 for me. Most of my riding on the 29er is done at the Allegrippis trails so it's not overly rocky.

It depends... 30 sounds a bit high. Might have been a fluke that you got a flat. Sometimes speed and a pinch at the wrong angle are enough to cause a hiss/pop.
I am in MD and typically run high 20's on tubed 29er WTB 2.2 tires and haven't gotten a flat on them yet.

I normally run 25-30 tubed. I get a flat about once every month to every other month. I switch between rigid and a minute29. if you ride rigid on really rocky terrain, seriously consider some nice wide 2.25 to 2.4" tires. I ride 2.1 with my race setups and they feel narrow. size matters.

I find that running in the 30's equates to less traction. Through mud, loose dirt/gravel, etc. it is worth slightly increased flat potential to get grippage. I have tubed Conti mountain kings on one bike and tubeless Schwalbe racing ralph's 2.4F/2.25R on another bike.

I would like to hear opinions/suggestions on this as well. I recently added my first 29er hardtail to the fleet. Since I have been riding a 26" wheels with 5" of travel front and rear, this is totally different.
My first ride on the bike yesterday was a bit too harsh for my liking (I could tell the rear tire was too high of pressure but I started purposely high to avoid pinch flats).
I'm 220lbs and will be trying out 37psi tomorrow morning (with tubes for the moment). Thoughts?

I am 220ish, and run mid 20s front, and 30ish rear. Rarely pinch flat. Tires do feel slightly squirmy at times, but I ride full rigid, so every bit of suspension helps!

I'm 190# and haven't had a flat yet on either my tubed HT 29er (1 year) and tubeless DS 29er (3 mos). I never exceed 30 PSI and always run the front lower than the rear.

I've been running about 24 psi on my 2.5" Racing Ralphs, great handling/bump absorption and no flats yet. The only thing is that I get a little tire rub as the rr. tire sags a bit at this pressure. I will probably go down to a 2.3 or 2.4" version soon.

The width of the tires makes a huge difference, a 2.5" 29er can handle 30 lbs of pressure a lot better than a 2.1. Also rider weight and riding style can affect pinch flats as well. I'm 145 lbs and run at least 35 PSI in Kenda Smallblocks, 29 x 2.1 and have not had a pinch flat yet.
If you are looking to run a very low PSI, heavily consider getting wider tires with a tubeless set up. Wide tires are better suited to low PSI, as are tubeless tires or tires set up with Stan's.
