For some reason my seatpost won't hold my seat straight. It ends up either pointing up or pointing down. I have tightend down the allen bot as tight as it will go but it still, when I hit a bump (which is the whole time you ride), it ends up going up or down. Anything else I can do besides buying a new seatpost? thanks guys

but on your next seatpost something to look for is for one having 2 bolts on opposing sides of the post. Instead of just one like yours....

Just putting this out there.... buy a Thomson and you never have any problems ever again....

Its probably not gripping properly, mabe you could put something in between the clamp and the seat, like some rubber pad. I really have no idea, visit your LBS, they might know
what going on.

If not you have 2 options.

1. - buy a new seat post

2- dont sit on your seat

Agreed, I run Thomson posts on almost all my bikes. A double bolt clamp is the strongest thing available. I've stripped every single bolt clamp post I've ever owned.

Are Thomson post expensive? Sure, but you only have to buy one! It's better than buying 3 cheap ones, and dealing with the hassle.

Well according to the size stamped on the seatpost I have now its 29.2. I can't seem to find the right anywhere. The closest I have found is 29.4. Will that work or what should I do?

Youre outta luck... I have a Peugeot with a 29.2 and NO ONE makes a nice seatpost for it. Not even a decent one!

Well aint this just my luck. Anyone know any cool tricks to hold the saddle tight? I have tired some rubber tubes but its not work very well.

That or a 29.0 and some strips of aluminum cans.

Do all One bolt seatposts suck? I found a 29.2mm Kalloy which is one bolt. I dunno if the company is any good. I'm just figuring its better than what I got now.

1 bolts are pretty useless. I haven't found one I liked.

Now my second question is.... Are all two bolt systems made equal? I'd love to get the thomson but I can't really afford 80 bucks right now. Any other alterntives for under 40 bucks?

The Thomson is better than most, like all things they come in varying degrees of quality.

If you do some searching, you can find a Thomson for around $50.00 online or eBay.

Hey guys I think I found a good seatpost I can afford. Sette Alloy seatpost I also found an adapter to make it fit. What do you guys think? On mtbr.com it got pretty good reviews. I know yall are huge thomson fans and trust me, I would be too if I could afford it. Thanks guys

I've seen some of the Sette stuff and it's pretty good stuff.

Much better than a Kalloy SIngle bolt!

I figure its 19 bucks. I can afford to spend 19 bucks and then $8 dollars for the adapter. I'm gunna give it a shot. If it doesn't work, then I'll get a thomson and yall can say 'I told ya so'
