we had the annual OTE staff retreat down in Sedona (it's still going on) and i went down for 3 days. us fruitards (troy, george, landon, mary, "rad" ross schnell and me, and the folks from the Hurricane, UT store all down in a house. first day we hooked up with a local from the bike n bean who took us on some secret stash trails, then we rode the airport trails. trails weren't too bad, but snow was melting and made some muddy spots. turns out professional mountain bike racers (ross) are really fast and ride really good. guy was doing one handed wheelies and such.
second day we headed down to the Bumblebee exit on 179, north of phoenix and rode on the black canyon trail. if you don't know, the black canyon trail is about 78 miles of bad ass singletrack. it was more twisted than christopher walken, and super fun. it is a must do. we rode 15 miles of it from Bumblebee to Black Canyon City, then had beers at the Javelina Crossing.
day three we stayed in sedona. joe murray showed up to ride. some of us were pretty smoked, so joe, ross, the hurricane crew, and troy went for a bad ass ride including some new stuff (special ed). george, landon, mary, and i were too tired to try to hang with joe and ross, so we rode around the church in the rocks, then did slim shady (right up from the bike n bean) and bell rock trail. an easy day.
today i came back home. they are still down there. i'll go back down in a week or so to ride special ed and some of the other kick ass trails. life is good. that is a pic of me on the chicken after the ride. i was THAT happy.
riding bicycles is EXTRA EFFIN AWESOME and i suggest you all ride bikes as much as possible.
