DH Bike Build for 2011

So I have a few more parts for the DH bike for 2011. Going in a little different direction this year with a little less travel and a single crown fork.

Here is what I have so far...

Most of everything else should be here in a month or so.

Going to be sick, man. No way I'll be able even keep you in sight any more.

So the bike showed up at the LBS a couple of days ago. I'm heading down on Saturday to bring it home. I'll snap some pics before I swap the new parts.

Too bad there's way too much snow around here to take it for a ride. I'll have to start checking on some of the spots in BC that dry up early.

It's a bike with a tapered headset for all that I know, going to be interested to see the completed bike. Is that the 180 36 van?

This south-of-the-border part of B.C. is pretty good.

Oh, and no matter how you build it, it's going to suck .

^ but you're a long drive away for a day trip!

It is a 180 Van FIT RC2 and I will be swapping the stuff pictured above (plus some other parts) onto a complete bike I ordered. And D is right, it is going to suck!

^^ I checked web cams at Nelson, Invermere and Cranbrook. Even checked Rossland (too far). You're SOL. I think you'd have to get into the Okanagan to get out of snow - - and that's not a day-trip either.

You bastard...way to confirm!I had a feeling...the mountains have been getting quite a bit of snow. The Okanagan is only 6 hours one way...it could be a day trip!

BTW, just got a pic from my buddy at the LBS...this bike really sucks!

I swapped some stuff over but haven't finished everything (need to cut the fork, pull off the FD and a few other little things).

But I rode it briefly outside of the LBS and it's going to be really fun! The bike pedals very well and the turning is awesome...feels a lot different than the V10.

So for everyone else...I bought a 2011 Specialized SXT1. I went for the SXT1 over the SXT2 because I was going to swap parts with either route and buying the SXT1 was somewhat cheaper after buying and selling everything (by about $500-700...it depends on what I can sell the Domain RC for).

So the build:

FRAME - SXT1 large
SHOCK - Van RC...I think I'll keep it and send it off to PUSH (or our local Vancouver equivalent) for tuning and once I get the bike dialed, I'll get a Ti spring
FORK - Domain RC that has been swapped for a Fox Van 36 180 FIT RC2
HEADSET - FSA taper
CRANK - SRAM Descendant...pulled off the granny ring
PEDALS - Specialized replaced with Deity Decoy LTs
BASH/GUIDE - Gamut 2 speed guide...haven't ordered the replacement yet but will likely put on a LG1+
SHIFTER - SRAM X5 front and rear replaced with a SRAM X0 for the rear
FD - Shimano SLX...will be removed and sold
RD - SRAM X9 mid-cage...going to swap it with the X9 short cage on the B4X
CASSETTE - I think it's a cheaper 11-34 Shimano, it'll be replaced with a 12-25 SRAM road cassette
BRAKES - Avid Elixir R (200/185)...these feel pretty good, I'll likely just add Straitline levers
BAR - Specialized 750mm replaced with a Deity Blacklabel 780mm
STEM - Specialized 35mm
GRIPS - Specialized lock ons
SADDLE - Specialized replaced with a Selle Italia SLR
POST - Specialized replaced with Thomson Elite
WHEELSET - Specialized hubs and DT Swiss Rims...I might get a lighter tubeless wheelset but in no rush right now
TIRES - Specialized Butcher SX...they look promising

I think that's it but I probably missed something...I'll get some pictures later to keep D happy.

Hopefully no more whining from D for the time being...here's a picture of Steve and the bike. I still need to cut the steerer tube and the post, reinstall the front brake, pull off the FD, etc.

Blingiest suck evar! I'd say that thing is a real dog but I don't want to insult Steve.

Haha! Seriously, glad you have a nice still-photo there that I can gaze at . . . rest of the time I'll probably only catch blurry glimpses of it from 100 yards back.

I'm envious that your big build of the year is done by February, while mine started in October & I still have miles to go. And you're adding insult to injury by making it look so much better than mine. Jerk.
