trouble finding a 29.2 seatpost

I bought a Trek Bruiser 2 on craigslist last week and I'm planning to work my way through the bike and replace all of the Bontrager stuff. Stem, bars, saddle, cranks, and steer tube cap seem like they will be pretty straightforward. But the seatpost is stamped 29.2, and there aren't hardly any 29.2 seatposts out there and the ones I found are from no-name brands. Can anyone suggest a reputable brand that makes a 29.2 that is at least 350 mm long? Does anyone have any advice on shims?

I would have my LBS order a Kalloy from their supplier- I believe they make every size, and are strong and affordable, if not a little klunky.

I've used shims a couple times -- properly installed and tightened, they work.

Don't get hung up on name brands -- many "name" makers get their products from the same sources as generics. Use what WORKS!

(Example: my Dakar XLT, 4 y-o now, rides as well as Day One; NO ISSUES AT ALL from my 6-y-o SUPERGO seatpost. And I'm a hard-riding Clyde, 3-5K miles a year just in commutes.)

29.2 is pretty tough. I know Hawley carries a couple of Kalloy ones though (350mm and 400mm). Any LBS should be able to get them for you.
