i have a 24" mountain bike at the moment but i needs some repairs. i want to have it so the front wheel is quick release, is there any way to do this without buying a new wheel, by the way the wheel size is 20"

I wanted to do this recently to one of my bikes - a mate who works at a bike shop didn't seem to think it would be a problem to replace the solid axle with a hollow axle and skewer, and shouldn't be expensive either.

There is an alternative to this. Simply replace the threaded nuts on each side with a threaded cam that threads onto the existing axle.
