Do your self a favor and check out the "Show Your Mountian Bike" thread in this forum to see what some folks are riding. Before you spend your cash you first need to know what type of riding you are planning to do. Downhill, singletrack, Cross Country, are you planning to ride stuff w/ serious jumps? Massive hills? this will help you narrow down your search somewhat. Do you really need a full suspension or will a hard tail work. Do you want a 29er? Lots of questions. 700 bucks will go to an entry level full suspension, or an med grade component hardtail. Look at the bikes others are riding, look up some reviews of something that may catch your eye and go to your LBS and test ride lots of different bikes. When you find the one you want you will know.
