upgrade!

got a box in the mail, filled with sexy carbon-y XO parts. i'm excited, gonna put the stuff on my bike tomorrow.

i got new shifters, new bottom bracket, new cassette, new cranks (gonna take off the big ring), and new rear derailleur (with blackbox technology!). all 9 speed stuff.

i'm quickly becoming "that guy," the guy with the super tricked out blinged out bicycle who can't ride the bike the way it was meant to be ridden. seriously, i don't think i deserve the bicycle i have. i feel like i have a high performance ferrarri and i drive it like a blind 80 year old driving a pinto.

here are some pics of the parts, i'll post pics when i get them on the bike.

X.0 almost shifts by thought. X.9 is nearly there, and after 4 years on X.9, you can't PAY me to run Shtmano.

Shtmano's 8-speed stuff is legendary for its reliability, and I've run the stuff in the past. SRAM 9-speed is better by a multiplicative factor.

Couldnt agree more. I run X7, just bc X9 would be overkill on my bike, and its by far the best upgrade Ive invested in.

Plannin on building up a Stumpy FSR this summer, X0 is def on the radar for that one. OP, what frame is this goin on?

It's looking like I'm going to have to go a step down with X9 on the rear derailleur & shifters, X7 on the front derailleur (barely use it anyway, so whatever), & the biggest skimp-out is the XT crankset. That is, unless Race Face has some good liquidation deals! (yes, I'm a vulture. whatever) But coming from a stock drivetrain on a 10-year-old Gary Fisher Wahoo, it'll be like heaven in comparison.

Let's see some pics when you get it all installed!
