Males: doesn't matter.

Females: MTB women are WAY friendlier than femroadies.

Just saying. The roadies have always told me I'm to young to be riding a road bike and I should stick to video games, etc.

I met a older MTB'er today out on the trails who I had a nice conversation with while I fixed my saddle. He was nice enough to comment on my bike, so I had to bring up his Carbon S-Works. It was pretty win IMO. Most other roadies would sneer at my Aluminum, 105 equipped road bike while they purposely hammer away. =/

Sounds like you need to find some different roadies. The ones I ride with would compliment you for being out there instead of in front of a TV playing video games. They certainly wouldn't sneer at your bike either.

Some people are just jerks, it doesn't matter what they ride. I'm the same person wether I am on my mountain bike or my roadie, the bike doesn't change my attitude in the least.

I've met plenty of great people from both disciplines and plenty of jerks from both. I do however think that mountainbikers are more easy going and relaxed, riding for fun, while roadies are more serious and focused on training.

On my mountain bike I am one of the friendliest people on Earth, but when I get on my road bike I become an elite snob.
I am afraid if I get a recumbent, I would grow facial hair and smell of urine.
