Pro Deals on bikes, info please?

Heya, so i work at a college outdoor program and we can get pro deals on black diamond, patagonia, smith, etc... The mountain biking team gets a great deal on Specialized but the person who set it up really had to work to get it. I'm not on team, no competitive riding, so i can't get the deal. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other brands that work with programs/companies? Most bike companies seem to be pretty closed door as far as giving out pro deals. Thanks!

They are closed because the industry is small, only so many deals to go around.
There is also a lot of corruption with shared deals. For example, my buddy get EPO (similar to pro deal, he doesn't work a shop but they gave him a 50% discount card essentially) he buy product, sells them below cost, makes a profit and the nearest shop looses money.
As a team, you have a better chance of selling. More people on more bikes riding more often and more places with a big jersey on each rider. You are one rider. Single riders need LOTS of exposure. And yes with luck and some skill an above average rider CAN get sponsored...its about EXPOSURE. Companies don't care if you can ride the best(much) but they do care if you represent them well and get them lots of magazine shots (winning races is an easy way to do this )

It isn't a bike companies job (not saying thats what you are saying) to offer you deals. Its your job to prove to them that a frame at 1/2 price once per year will be of value to them. That is a 1000$ / year investment. Will you, in return, get say 10X that much back to them. If you will, you might have a better chance of getting some bro deals The more exposure the better the deals. The best pros get everything for free...the worst pros get percentage off of the product of the pro company.

Yeah that's true, when I send out emails i will be sure to stress the usage and visibility of the bike (our current konas get USED). We also have QBP which has every bike part under the sun from the small cassette screw/post to whole bikes. Though QBP definately doesn't have the greatest prices on bikes compared to 50%.

50% was a number I threw out. Deals varry from pro to pro (to amateur)...and actually most pros aren't. At least in canada. 50% of your total income must come from sponsors before you are a pro. Otherwise, you are still considered an amateur athlete.

We actually had a guy in whistler recently get a mini sponsorship. Paid a guy to do a full video to show his lifestyle and his exposure. Entered some contests, got a WICKED deal, free bike and some stuff. When he proves himself more he will get more stuff.

Anyone on our bicycle team gets 50% off specialized. VERY RARE for that to happen, as i said before the person in charge of it worked pretty hard to even get any sort of pro deal.
