Trek Dual Sport

Hey guys, one of my buddies is looking for a bike that handles both light to moderate trail use/abuse, and can still serve as a decent street bike. Do any of you have experiences with this bike at all? Is there anything else you'd recommend he check out for this purpose?

Thanks!

By "street use" do you mean commuting in knickerbockers or blasting stairs with blood on his shins?

haha,I'm thinking just some general on street commuting... Though the idea of my friend in knickerbockers is extremely entertaining.
