Ok, not really 
. But I am looking for a light weight fs bike, anything made by trek, klein, gary fisher, cannondale, giant is out of the question. I huck off stuff, dirt jump, and trail ride. I need a lighter bike to trail ride with.

For what it cost me to build my Stuff up, I could have bought close to 25 nexts, no thanks on the NEXT idea.
For me I'm in the price range of between 2,500 and 3,000, complete, or $1,000-1,500 for frame only.

Mountain Bike magazine mentions the Tomac Eli as an excellent bike. Better than that, though was a Fisher Cake, but ah well. The Tomac is $3,000, has a Minute 2:00, SRAM X.9 stuff, XTR cranks, LX front mech, XT hubs, Avid mechanicals, Swinger Air SPV 4-Way. total weight is not listed, but all the XTR crap, should be pretty light.

True. I do generally prefer fsr over SP. But I like the preston, reasonable price and burly. The sabre was one I was considering, but until transition proves otherwise I am now a loyal purchaser (Whenever the situation comes up)

Actually I know what I want to get and am 95% sure on it. Just waiting to see what you all are reccomending to me, it's actually quite fun to be the question asker instead of an answerer. I am eyeing a bike that is a better pedaler than an Enduro.

Well if you really dead set against a fine bike like a Next then I would look maybe into one of these 3.
1) Yeti AS-R
2) Rocky Mountain Element
3) Litespeed Niota TI ( I don't know how you feel about titanium)
The Next comes in some pretty colors. Actually I like the Fisher Cake but you already said you don't like them either. They are as pretty as the Next bikes.

i like the preston fr... it's probably be a great bike for playing around on... only thing is it's got less travel than what you've said you're looking for, with only 3" rear. note: just checked before clicking on submit and i guess they've increased the travel for 2005. the previous preston fr's had only 3" in the back... it's now up to 4-5"
