Gary fisher Mako a good starter bike?

I am looking to upgrade from my wally world bike

It has served me well

I have yet to try some real trails but I am liking the riding a lot. the Bontrager tires is some sort of a hybrid tire right? good for paved and unpaved roads?

I saw this gary fisher mako 2010 bike selling at my local CL for $270. MSRP for a new one is around $360.

good deal or not?

It might be my bike for a long while if it holds up

Do some more research...

I ride a gary fisher marlin disc and love it. Got it very cheap at my LBS. Bontrager is the trek accessories company that makes things like handlebars for their bikes(and tires as well) this says nothing about the tread or size or anything about the tire really. I realize you're in the interest of saving money and yes gary fisher makes some decent bikes in my opinion but if you really want to get this thing out on the trail I would spend a little extra and get disc breaks... Get that baby off the road! I would talk to your LBS about your needs and see if they can point you in the right direction for a bike that meets those needs.

No need to make 2 threads about it.

https://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/bik/2428587361.html

https://fisherbikes.com/bike/model/mako

The bike has a large size frame and would probably suit someone 6'+, how tall are you ?
What sort of riding do you want to do ?

The bike isn't a great bargain for what your getting, it's a low end bike with cheap parts on it. A rigid fork would probably be better then the cheap suspension fork on that bike.
