XT disc brake caliper with m486 levers?

I could use some advice guys.My current set-up is shimano bmr486 disc brakes.I am in desperate need of more stopping power on the back, because of nasty commuting route, cars cutting me off all the time, inability to lock the rear wheel.Found decent price Shimano M775 XT caliper that I would like to buy. Will it work with my current levers and centre-lock rotor or should I buy the whole set?

If you're having trouble stopping the bike on level pavement, you need to fix/upgrade the front brake first.

No, by far.Front brake is pretty much the same, it feels a bit more powerful, but probably because most of the braking is done in the front.

Thanks a lot man, thatīs what I wanted to know.

What should I swap first?I canīt really affort a whole new brake set(caliper, disc, lever)at this point, thatīs why I decided to change the caliper first, the XT comes with some opposed 2-piston design, good reviews etc.Should I reconsider?

You got it right, the quality of the caliper is the biggest factor, but if you can only do one wheel, do the front.
