    Lizard Skins for Mt Bike shocks...front and main.

    Anyone ever use Lizard Skins to protect their shocks from dirt, dust, water and grime? Do they work or just a gimmick? Thanks in advance for the repsonse.

    I only know about front suspension. Most people do not use them on their front suspension. FWIR they trap more dirt inside as compared to the way the suspension comes. Just clean the stanchions off, use a little dry teflon based oil (i.e. from finish line) to squirt on the dust seals/guards, and then compress the suspension. Do this until dirt stops coming out from the dust guards onto the stanchions (if you do it regularly 1 time is usually enough). I usually do this at least once after every ride, but others do it less often.

    Fork boots were popular on some forks in the late 90s, mainly Manitou. They didn't last long as they didn't work as advertised as Shimmer alluded to. As for shocks, same thing. Best is to clean and maintain the fork seals and shock after every ride.

    IMHO, they look like condoms. Would you put one on when you're trying to have "fun"? Ride bare! LOL!

    *edit* sorry, this is a pet peeve of mine but...

    front = suspension fork
    rear = shock

    yeah, mincing words...
