Making an attractive bike
For this, I steal brandon1945's Trek 4300 which I find muoy bueno.
Now folks, isn't this a classy looking bike? How does one make a bike look so nice? The answer is simple and will be found in someone else's post.
(Give tips on how to make your bike look classy)
These are mine:
Add decals on your bike (Preferably with primary colours including white and black)
Do not clean non clean necessary items (frame but still clean components)
Get a seat post and stem and handle that have lots of writing on them.
Get tires that have lots of writing on them
Get a 2 toned colour saddle commonly found on Giant Bikes
That is all.

leave your bike just like it is and add what is necessary. That will make a bike stylish enough in the owners eyes

I'm not a big fan of decals and stickers.. The less, the better in my book. But that's just my opinion

No. I'm 5'11". I rode Cryo's 17.5" frame and I felt bunched up on it. Plus I got a swingin' deal on the 20" frame. I had to move the saddle up about 2" but other than that I like the way the bike fits me.

Then you can add: Shoes (60) helmet (60) bottle cages (80) bottles (13) rain pants (95, big guy clothes are expensive) gloves (35,25,45,55), lock (30) think that's about it for now. I'm going to be getting some insanely bright headlight and should be done for a bit, I've spent way more money then I wanted to

yeah I was originally looking at dumping about 700 bucks into a bike, then realized hell would freeze over before I found a bike to support me that was under 700...then all that gizmos and gadgets...phew. Oh I forgot laptop camelbak (100) mule camelbak (40, yeah I got a deal), tire pump (40), Topeak Macgyver (80) Topeak Toolbar (30)...I think I might have to get booties for riding in the rain, my feet were wet all day at work

for clarification, I'm not trying to brag here, I'm just trying to show how much 700 bucks turned into a crap ton more. a 5k yeti has me beat 3x over.

The appearance of a bike doesn't matter. It's the ride that counts.
Now that carpet on the other hand... It's Grade A Section 8 housing material.

and the person that buys that 5k yeti probably also spends another 2k in gear and stuff... he probably has a $600 headlight and $150 shoes.. etc etc etc...

Still kicking.
Stickers don't make a bike attractive.

just like they don't make a car attractive.. lol... I'd much rather see a straight black bike with black components and maybe one or two stickers telling what kind of bike it is..

I pick off most of the decals on my bike. I like the rock shox stickers so i keep that there, and the frame well the big K2 is painted on it so i cant do much there. everything else is removed, i dont want my bike to be a rolling billboard.

What I do to make my bike look classy is simple. I put an away message on my AIM, drive to a local trail, abuse, scratch, repeat. Through this process, I find things that I would like to change, such as, my stem lowered, losing worthless the granny gear, some clipless pedals. I have found that you can save oodles of time making your bike look cool by actually riding, rather than trying to make your bike look cool.
