Dirt Bike and Mountain Bike
When ever I ride I always see this other kid on a dirt bike. We always see each other but at school we never said anything to each other even though we have a lot of the same classes togethor. Finally he asked where I had been riding, and we started a good conversation about riding in general. Suprisingly he was very nice to me. Most of my friends who ride dirtbike are azzholes and say stupid shiz like "Why don't you just get a dirt bike?" But he respects DH, Freeride, and actually wanted to ride with me tommorow. What was funny is that we had been doing the same jumps and we didn't even know it. The only problem I have w/ him riding my trail is that there is a really nice Downhill w/ a drop off. The drop is actually easy to ride up on a dirt bike, but coming down you have a lot of speed so its pretty much a drop off. Anyway, he always rides up as a hill climb but cant ride down. Its really muddy this time of year and it makes these big ruts accross the trail becuase its slides back and forth when he is climbing. These ruts are really hard to ride accross. I even wrecked once becuase I didn't know there was a rut there and it kicked my feet off the pedals. How do I appoach him? I don't want to be rude about it...especially to someone who actually respects what I ride. Its not like he knows that happens. I know he isn't doing it on purpose...

I find that such a weird attitude. I know lots of dirtbikers but they also ride mountainbikes. They are not mutually exclusive.
Explain it to him. Maybe get him to help with trail maintenance...or
Bring a shovel and fix the spot yourself

I think if you tell him that it's messing up the trail he might be a bit more reasonable, I mean atleast he is respectful of your cycling

I don't think he's going to hate you for telling him what he's doing wrong. Like you said, he probably doesn't even know that he's doing it. Just tell him that it's not good for the trails when you ride them muddy like that since it causes permanent trail damage.
