I was watching my kid the other day. She's doing really well w/o training wheels. She's around 4' tall. Gangly. I weighed her bike against mine and it weighs as much as my Parker. It's a 20".

Who makes bikes that are scaled down for kids besides Scott and Specialized? I'm considering buying her a 24" next year or two...and haven't decided on a MTB or possibly a BMX Cruiser. There are some really nice Jr. BMX bikes out there that are in the 12-15lb range with appropriate geometry for shorter peeps. Scott and Spec both make MTB's...but they're not really scaled down properly in the weight range. I'd like her to be able to freakin' fly with every pedal stroke like we do proportionately.

Problem with Scott and Specialized is that there 24" and 20" bikes still weigh more than the crapper. (except for the RC)

I like the Intense b/c it's in the $400'ish range.
