Hey guys, got another question for you.....

I used to ride xc with a little bit of street riding, but in the last month or 2 ive really got into the whole freeride aspect, especially the jumps and drops...

But, my question to you is, What bike would you buy for under £1000 tat is capable of doing all of these?
Although it will mostly be for Jumping as ive really taken a shine to it and cant get enough

On my british forum they suggest the Identiti Dr jekyll, this is an excellent bike, but im not sure if it will suit my needs, it says its a BSX bike.... what do you guys think?

Anyway, what would you buy, im having a real hard job finding a bike that will suit my needs.

If you need measurements and stuff like that, im 5 foot 9 inches tall, and 175lbs.... I would really like a hardtail, for two reasons, one, i will get a dedent hardtail for this money rather than a crap fs rig, and Ht's just rule

I'm not an expert but I believe if you find a bike that is capable of doing everything it won't be excellent in anything. I'd lean more towards a big suspension bike like a Specialized Demo 8 for instance, and just deal with the weight and suspension on the street. I think that's better than getting a more street/xc oriented bike and sacrificiing suspension travel when doing more involved trail and dh stuff.

I dont want a cross country bike.... Just a hardtial with maybe 130mm travel? i wont be douing anything insane on it....... yet, i just need something that is more aimed at jumping and drops, but can still be used for trails and northshore and stuff like that

If a hardtail dj is what your looking for look at the sepcialized p3 or transition trail or park. A lot of brands make hardtail dj bikes. Go to your lbs and ask to see them.

I agree with both Vandal and Crgowo. You can ride a dj style bike on trails, just a little hard, and requires some more walking ...but it won't be ideal for everything (except maybe djing )

Ok, i discussed this will maelstrom awhile ago about the trail or park, when i was looking at building a bike, the thing is, i dont feel up to building a complete bike just yet, and i cant find anywhere in the UK that does the fully built bike

Also if you look at pricing, look lower, they have build kits you can buy, and they can likely press in all the parts you need then you just have to build it from mid way (put fork on, wheels and crank arms type of thing.

What about the p3? Dill Tremblay rides one for dirt jumping and street a\nd it works fine, what does everyone think of one of these?

ive ridin one, strong and gnarly the 05 is sick. it can stand up to a beating just check out darren barrelcloth in ride the lightning, he doles out some abuse on it.

The P. bikes are great bikes. Have you looked into any Kona bikes,thay build some strong stuff.

What would you recommend? P1, p2 or p3 with a build? ( i dont really want this option, i would rather buy the bike already built.

i was also looking at the Cro mo version, i love steel frames, i would buy the P1, but it has no front brake, i suppose i could always buy one later on..Is there any difference between the P1 Alu frame and the P2 or P3? Or is it just the componenets on them?

Regardless, the p's are a tough series. If they are finally offering a steel one that will finally make them loveable by all (steel is real)

the frames are the same geometery, but the quality of the metal, and the build are different.

it sucks that the p1 is the only steel one though, i think they should make the p3 in steel, but i guess that a steel frame with all of the heavy duty parts, would weigh alot.

i dont under stand that either to be honest, but i like the Cromoly steel p1, it just looks real nice, ive looked at Kona, but the specialized P series looks the best for me atm....

Probably gonna get a Steel p1, but im not sure yet, the componenets are pretty rubbish, but the p2 isnt much better and thats only available in an alu frame...

A good dj/urban frame, steel or alum, will likely weight in at 35 to 40 pounds either way. If you are looking for that strong a frame anyways. I think it is a good call. Now that I have ridden steel for a dj/urban frame, I will never go back to an alum frame for jumps and stuff.

Id get the Dr.Jekyl.....I was going to buy that infact. Heard really good things about it, and some sick rider in CR5 rides one.....dont know his name though. The Dr.Jekyl could do everything....the steel p1 might be a bit of a pain.....
