chain guides
hello, I have a Cannondale chase converted to single speed. It's an outstanding bike with all new components. Right now I have a chain tensioner that mounts on the derailer mount. My question is: can i replace that tensioner with a bottom bracket mounted chain guide?
Thank You |

What's the deal with all the chain guide threads lately? I don't think I had ever seen a single one up until a few weeks ago, & now there have been three in a few weeks.
Not trying to call you out or anything Jameson, just a strange observation. |

Not trying to call you out or anything Jameson, just a strange observation. Re: more chain guide topics. With the advent of 11-36 cassette availability that isn't the crappy low level shimano one or the stupid expensive SRAM one (as in, you can get one on mounted on a spider, and under $100) more and more riders I see are swapping to single ring front seatups. Most bikes doing that will need some form of chainguide, even if just a bash/Jump-Stop setup. |
D'oh! Guess I should actually read the thread before I call myself observant:rolleyes:
Yeah I'm not at all surprised that more & more people are switching to single rings up front after what I've read/been told about how most of the gears of even a smaller 3x7 setup are just overlap. If I had known that when I was ordering parts I probably would have gone the same route & saved myself a lot of trouble with clearance issues on the front derailleur. |
Thanks for all the responses. and yes chain guides seem to be the instyle thing right now, and honestly thats partly why i want to change over from a rear derailer hanger type tensioner. right now i have a raceface evolve s.s. crankset, and i am looking to switch to a chainguide, and remove my rear tensioner. thank you
