central Texas till end of December - anyone wanna ride some Trails?

so, i'm heading home next week for XMas and will be in Texas for a little over 2 weeks.

i just ordered my new Kona Coiler than should hopefully be ready in about a week - around Friday the 17th of December...

i was an undergrad at UT in Austin a few years back, but i'm not really up on trails --- City Park in Austin + Barton Creek + a few trails out towards 360 and Lake Travis are all i know. heard that there's some stuff to ride out by Canyon Lake near New Braunfels...

i'll be based in New Braunfels where my parents. anyone in the NW San Antonio, San Marcus, Austin area who's up to show me some trails??

it would be cool to meet up with some BF members!

Man dude, I'd love to ride but I'm in the middle of getting LASIK done on my eyes, so I'm stuck in glasses for the time being. But make sure to check out Walnut Creek in north austin, its a mountain bike playground.

Oh man be sure to hit the NORBA Nat'l course in Waco, TX while you are there. Its about 1.5hrs but I think its probably the best XC course I have ever ridden (Mark Weir says it is too). 25mi of trails from beginner->extreme.

I agree with seely. Never been there but a buddy who came up here for the 24hr race said if I ever make it to texas I would enjoy that course.

No you didn't. Thats cool. If I ever decide to go anywhere hot, I know some people in texas. But really, I don't make it out of canada often. Maybe once every 5 years.

And if I ever decided to go somewhere cold, I'd go to Canada. The holy grail of freeride. But if I was to go hotter, it had to be Moab Utah. That place is awesome!

really? i'm planning on having LASIK done soon too. i've been riding in my glasses the last few weeks (usually in contact) and man does it suck! lenses fogged, sweat all over my glases...

do you know how long afterwards you're not supposed to ride? (mine is scheduled for Dec 21st)

ha! awesome! mine is scheduled for Dec. 21st as well. I'm going in tomorrow to get my test done to see what needs to be fixed, you know. I'm not sure how long we are suppose to wait. He told me I couldn't do any contact sports for a few months. I'm not sure if mountain biking is a contact sport? I dunno. Hopefully no longer than maybe a week and then I'll be back to riding. Where are you getting yours done at?
