I was wondering, i'm looking to get a bike here real soon, i'm moving from BMX dirt jump and just general riding to MTBing and i don't know exactly what i want to get, i know i want a hard tail, but after that i don't know
since i've ridden mosh and had an old giant mountain bike i'm thinkin either starting out on the Yukon or maybe the STP2 or 3 any feedback

I wouldn't get the yukon if you want to do any kind of jumping. I was looking at the STP for a while, but ended up just getting something off ebay.

Another frame only for the list could be Fetish Cycles Fixation (seems pretty sweet in my opinion and my steelhead frame was kaput, I'd get me one of these off ebay for ~$200)

Now if i do go with the STP 2, i live in Missouri so that encompasses the Katy Trail, which is just easy flat gravel trail, would the STP be alright on the gravel trail and also how would it fair on some minor downhill action, basically i want to be able to ride a lot of stuff, but have a bike built like a tank, i sort of take, mind you it's no easily breakable bike, that the yukon could be for more cross country usage, i'm just looking for somehthing i can, yah know i don;t know what i'm trying to say and am rambling now, but ay feedback on this please

yeah, the stp should be able to handle just about anything you can throw at it, but it will definitely excel at street riding and dirt jumping, but will definitely be able to handle some light downhill and cross country stuff, just don't expect to race it.

specialized P.2 is the way to go for a hardtail freeride/urban assult. if your looking for a stock bike im not so sure. i have a P.2 with a HED double wide downhill rim laced to a hayes disk elite with 14 g spokes and brass nipples and that takes all the abuse. up front it WAS a bomber freeride sl. now its an IN SYNC WITH PRELOAD ADJUSTERS. woo hoo. so far the fork is the only thing that has let go everything else has held togehter, however everything else has been upgraded... bottom bracket cranks headset everything but the frame is nice...

The "bomber freeride sl" is probably going to be a much better fork than anything made by a boyband.

The "IN SYNC" is a cheap OEM fork, which probably doesnt even have a damper.

Hmm. I'm not really too much of a fan of the green coloring... I'm just getting an STP1 frame (mmm... black goodness ) with STP0 components

All the stp1's here are "putty" I wish they were black, I would have been so much more inclined to get one. But I'm happy with my steelhead now.

Added those. I rode one of those gary fishers at the bike shop a couple weeks ago, felt awkward somehow. Seemed pretty nice and all, but just strange. The hayes sole hydros didnt seem to have much power, but they probably weren't broken in. The fork, a manitou stance static, was decent... I think I like the feel of the MZ better, even if it's crappier.

the sole hydros suck in general, they are a cheap hydro, and have terrible stopping power

I just put this one together a couple weeks ago. I didn't think a bike could make that big a difference.
