    24" rim for 4x?

I want a new rear rim, and I rode a Norco Rampage with 26" front and 24" rear and I liked the feel. But I am going to start racing 4x next summer and i was wondering if using a 24" rim would be too hard to pedal and/or just not ride good for racing 4x. Should I stick with 26" or go for 24"?

Well another reason I wanted a 24" was because I have very little rear tire clearence with a 26". If I were to get a 24" it would accept larger tires. Right now I have 2.35 tires and when I take a corner sharply my rim flexes and my tire rubs on the frame. But i could stick with a 26" and buy a really strong rim that will flex very little if any around corners, and i will just stick with a 2.35 tire. I think Ill stick with a 26", now I just need to find a really strong rim.

You don't need large tires to dj. Sound like you need a better rear wheel

Rim 'may' be ok. You might just need a rebuild.

One thing that no-one here has mentioned is one of the advantages of a 24inch rear. It has better acceleration. If you jump people om the start, and take the right lines ie block. You would have an advantage. Also a 24inch rim is stronger, but that probasbly doesn't matter. However, if it is a track which is extremely fast then you will not be able to reach the same top speed as someone with a 26inch wheel. Then again the 24 has a good topspeed. When I was on my bighit, I could get to 60km/h.

It does sound like you need either a better rim (I don't thionk you need a better one, that rim os ok) or a good rebuild. This will stop the flex. Also if you are going to run wide tyres, remember that you need to leave a bit of clearence in the rear triangle for mud.
