my first on the trail, not big, maybe 3 feet but seemed bigger what with the short stopping distance and the sharp rocks and bushy stuff beyond it. got my courage up, came in at speed, lifted the front and landed sweetly - loud woohooo! yeah!

Then a soft "pssssshhhhhhh...." from my rear tyre.... 2nd flat for the day. karma works in mysterious ways.

First drop is always the best, and no matter how big, it's enough to put the shi*ts up anybody when its their first go... Recently nailed my first drop (3ft) and a great feeling...

sucks about the flat, but congrats on landing the drop without hurting anything other than your rear tube.

Way to go, 3ft for your first one is pretty good. I did a new one last week, 6ft or so. It's on a bank in a trailhead parking lot. The scary part is I had to carry speed to clear a rock that stuck out between the take off and the landing. Catch it with the rear and I'm landing on my head. Then I had to get stopped before I hit a van. Some people have a lot of nerve parking in a parking lot like that. I almost hit it. Had my son with me,My wife thinks I'm teaching him bad things.

I started on 2. And that's all I've done that could be considered a drop. It was still kind of fun though. Didn't land it that good but hey, I tried.

Haha, the day I bought my FS I took it out to do some drops (smallish, 3-4 ft urban stuff) and forgot to check the tire pressure beforehand...bad news! The very first drop put a nice snakebite through my rear tube. Good times.

swifferman all i can say is - 3 ft urban/stairs is no prob as long as you've got the speed. in the bush however, fear factor adds ++ to the difficulty.

dont know how tall my first set was, but it was a 5 stair, so however big that is.

Man thats scary! If you like that, While we were on vacation I had my daughter block a doorway in a hotel so I could do a stair gap into the street.You should of seen the look on this guys face when he saw me tearing down the hall by his room. Good times with the kids. The way I see it you can teach your kids the right way to do things and avoid a lot of doctor visits. I'm getting ready to start on my sons dirt jumps.
