Rough day on the mountain

Went to check out some DH trails on the coastal mtn range yesterday. Day ended with an emergency room visit. Dislocated shoulder, minor concussion, and stitches in both elbows for me. And I didnt even have the worst crash. My buddy is still in the hospital with a broken back, multiple fractured vertebrate. One of the hardest crashes I have seen. Plowed a tree head on after sendin a fat booter. Send some good vibes his way cause he could definitly use it.

Youch! Healing vibes to both of you for sure! Sucks to end an otherwise good day that way, I know.

Sad Day! Sorry to hear it, sounds horrid. More than vibes to your friend.

Just as an aside, June 13 is 18 months after I broke 3 vertebrae and spent some time in ICU! There is life after a hard hit. There is a ton of work to get there. Hopefully you friend is using all his limbs. Any word on that?

Update. Went to see my friend today in the hospital. He shattered his l2-7 vertebrate and now they are concerned about internal bleeding. He does have full movement in his body though so that is a major relief. I forgot to add he wrecked in the last 100ft of the last run of the day. This really put things in perspective. Be careful when you are out there guys. It can be easy to forget how dangerous this sport is and how serious you can get hurt when you are out there blastin down a mountain and having fun.

^^ Last runs can really do that . . . bad things can happen quick when we're tired.

^ True, true. I think more of my crashes have been after riding for a while(not counting this last one that was, like, 5min. into the ride).

Perhaps this can be a warning to new riders, and a reminder to veteran riders, to make sure you're not overdoing it. When you start getting worn out, take it easy.

Update: So his blood count is back up which means hopefully no interal bleeding and he is moving around with a walker. Its slow going but he is moving so huge sigh of relief there. Hopefully he'll get to go home today. And so begins the long road of recovery. Thank you guys for the good thoughts and kind words, i made sure to pass them along.
