tube or no tube

Sure this has been beat to death, but what are the disadvantages of a tubeless tire? How does the weight compare to a tubed tire?

I personally don't love the Presta valve on my tubeless. I also don't have any old tubes laying around anymore to make chainstay protectors or slingshots. You gotta remember to add some Stans every couple of months. Sometimes I get some of that on the outside of the tire if I ran over something that used to flat me out. The initial cost sucked a little, but no more than any other decent upgrade. Those are some disadvantages.

Mine roll fast and feel good, I'm sure they are lighter. Weight of tube offset by a couple of ounces of Stans, what's a tube weigh?

Kenda thornproof weighs 300 grams, Kenda Superlight is 143 grams.

1 ounce = 28.3 grams

SO, converting both tires to tubeless can save you anywhere from @ 1/3 to 3/4 of a pound. In the biking world, that is pretty affordable weight loss.

if you can feel the difference in weight between a UST tire and a non UST tire, then you are probably good enough and experienced enough to already know which is better.
