Canyon model by Giant
Has anyone heard of a Canyon made by Giant? I am considering purchasing it at a LBS, it is dual suspension, matte black, looks similar to a ds model. I can't find any mention of it on Giant's website, or on the web. The LBS said it was a limited editon. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

I find it odd that it doesnt appear in google. I have never heard of Giant doing a batch too limited to not show up online. I would double check the data, and I will consult my local dealer.

Still kicking.
Giant does make a bike called the Canyon. It was extremely limited to only a handful of dealers. The reason why it looks like the Warp Series is because it is a Giant Warp frame.

Are you familiar with the Canyon? My LBS has it on sale for $499, is that a good deal? The front shocks had no name or model on them, and I didn't speak to anyone, it was rather busy at the time.

At that price range you are better off by getting a hardtail.

agreed
canyon... never seen or heard of it... i would go with a HT may not be what you are looking for. but if you are a beginner, than thats what you should learn on (form my perspective) either that or save up some more money and get a beter bike. all up to you

If its a Warp frame, then just go for the Warp model. The componentry is decent and the frame is good.

Is the warp really that bad? I was looking at either the canyon or the iguana, two totally different bikes, but again I am new to mountain biking.

Compared to a blur or a spider sure it isnt as good. I do know that when upgraded in a few key areas(mainly the rear shock) it is a good setup. A great many riders in my hometown used them in the XC races with success, and more used them in freeride. Admittedly, in freeride the frame fatigue life was relativley short(2 yrs) but they are good handling and capable. Keep in mind the price range as well. In my stable, I would put the money toward a really good hardtail frame, but in the land of dual, the Warp is a really good entry level. Apparently some disagree, but the evidence and past experience has taught me otherwise.
