Best rear hub for the budget.
As I'm sitting here and dreaming about my new bike (2013 Specialized Enduro) and surfing the internet about reviews and stuff I came a cross a few articles that people hated the stock rear hub. So I figured I'd just start browsing and comparing hubs.
Bike comes with Specialized Hi Lo disc, 4x-sealed cartridge bearing, 12mm thru-axle, 32h So my question is we all know the chris king and industry 9 are good but what if I didn't wanna spend that kind of cash? what are my options? Or what would you get for your bike? By the way from now on no jumps and no drops. I got to many injuries and I'm gonna try not to add any more. :D P.S: no jumps and no drops but fully prepared to bomb down the mountain :roflmao2: :roflmao2: |
Shimano XT M788 142x12 rear hub: $80

I would keep the hub it came with until it broke, and not listen to the e-tards who post reviews on the internet.

I know what you are saying but difference between a stock hub and a good aftermarket hub is huge. Try a bike with a chris king or the new DT swiss 240 and let me know what you think. Difference will blow your mind.

I ride a King. You already said you don't want to shell out for one. Why don't you try the stock hub on the Epic and decide for yourself whether or not you like it? For Jebus' sake, you haven't even taken delivery on the bike and you're already dissatisfied with it...
Knowing me I'll probably have the rim with the kings on it ready to go before the bike gets here. lol. :roflmao2: |

I've heard of people who had specialized hubs go bad on them not too long out of the box though... |
What are you looking for in the new hub? Switching to Shimano would seem like a pretty lateral move to me - though you might get a little more durability.
If you're looking for something with higher engagement, maybe take a look at Hadley, which would save some $$ over Kings, DT, or I9. |
