Gooood Ride

It got up to 50 today so I took the bike out. I rode this like uber long greenway into a neighboring city. Then I messed around in this contstruction site ( I found one that didn't have anyone at it, finally) Then after clumping 5lbs of mud onto my bike I spent 10 minutes getting most of it off, then loading it into the back of the van with boxes under each wheel and taking it to the car wash. I had a reallllllly good time. Rode 15 miles in a little over 2 hours and about 20-30 minutes was in the construction site. Anyways...I just to tell everyone

LoL. I like it about 50...once I warm up and get rolling...I don't need full finger gloves or a jacket....I love it.

my friend and I went at about 8 AM to the American River Trail, in Sacramento, right along the river, and it was 42 F, and it was freezing! Might have been because we had half finger gloves, shorts, and only a long sleeve shirt.....

hmm

lol

I had a short sleeve shirt on and PI gloves 1/2 finger ones...when i first start rolling I'm cold...then I warm up...that's about as cold as i can withstand...at 40 I'm putting on a jacket and real gloves.

Oh yeah, gotta love that warm weather! It's been in the 70s here most of the week. I was going to go riding again today...but on the first really steep hill my chain snapped apart and I bashed up my knee. I went back home and fixed the chain, but by the time that was done my knee had swelled up quite a bit...so I didn't push it.

What chain do you use?
I was using the 4-year-old stock Shimano chain...I keep it really clean and lubed, I don't weigh much, and I ride smoothly and this was the first problem I've had. It's stretched anyway. I'll probably replace it soon with a Sram.

it's a 30 dollar SRAM chain...LoL I'd have to ask the guys @ the shop exactly what chain it is since they were the ones to replace it, but it can withstand me pounding up a hill with 450lbs....it's gotta be doing something right

At 50 I'm in shorts, short sleeves or sleeveless still.

I'm dying to ride, it's been single digits here and we have about 2 ft. of powder. Great for XC skiing and snowboarding, but not so good for my two bikes that are just sitting in my house, taunting me.

Sounds like a fun ride.
