2005 Trek 6500-8 speed to 9 speed cassette

Hi, I was wondering how well a 9 speed cassette will work with my stock 2005 Trek 6500. From what shimano says, the rear hub can accept both a 8 and 9 speed cassette, I'm only worried about how the hub with a larger cassette will fit in the frame (If the cassette gears or the chain will hit the frame), and if it will work properly with the rest of the gears. Any ideas would really be cool.

It'll work fine you just need 9 speed shifters
