Well, it was delayed and arrived late today, Thursday.

I stopped by and it was sitting in the corner in the box, Of Course I Opened It !

Black/Red base model, M5 large frame....

Pulled a few items off my Sirrus and off the wall to add tomorrow during build-up.

I need a few suggestions for pedals..... I don't want shin-schredders or clip-ins, this is going to be a Road Going FS MTB.

What do you think ?

I think I checked the calendar, and it's not April 1st. are you serious? let me just politely say that I entirely disagree with your rationale for this bike, and it's not too late to take it on singletrack where it is supposed to be.

I have a pair of Oddessy Oreos, pinned. So I think you are thinking shin shredders. I ride with some 5.10s and also New Balance running shoes, heck even sandals at time. No shredding here. And I am old and clumbsy!

I can't think that this new beast is going to be happy as an overweight commuter. Bust up some dust my friend. Make the FS earn its keep!

In Da House and on the bike trail (paved) today.... Excellent responses folks, it can always go back but the ride today even on the knobbies was not too bad.

12 miles and cool weather made for so fun.

No tire change over yet, looking at the Borough XCs 700x45 or some Nimbus armos in 700x38

What do you think between those ???

The obvious has already been covered, but I just gotta ask...why such a nice trail bike for the road? I won't doubt that you have a legitimate reason unless I have good reason to, but I'm very curious what the reason is.

Sam,
Good enough question. Why take this level Trailie and move it to a MTB/Hybrid...

I've looked at the MTB's and CrossRoads & CrossTrails but they all lack rear suspension. My Sirrus is/was a fine Hybrid

road bike... but really pounded my back, especially after two surgeries. Small bumps to you guys are like curbs to me...

... like I said, I looked at the others but have been covinced about the rear travel. Adding a cheapo seat post springer or the Thud-Buster at near $200

is just to much of just a spring or polymer bushing.

The Camber's rear shock with real compression and rebound damping was worth the $$ I've paid.

Today's ride used about 1 to 1 1/2" of travel both front and rear based on the way I have the shock set. Both ends can be

locked out but the amount I used today after a 12 mile ride worked well.

Going to a bar with some rise aprox 1" will help my positioning, maybe even a CarbonFiber piece, and throw in a bit more dampening.

I'll also be adding Ergon Bio-Kork GP3 vs the Specialized grips I moved over from my Sirrus, the Ergon's wider base and feel should be an extra touch.

After today's research, and ride, will likely shift to Specialized XC Borough's at 700x45, similar sizing to the 2.3frt & 2.1R knobbies

that came on the bike, again these provide another semi-suspension with less rolling resistance.

Really did not see any other stock models that would give me what I was looking for...

Makes sense. I figured it had to be something medical...not many people out there that are both dumb and rich enough to drop nearly two grand on a bike they don't know anything about. Glad you're enjoying it, that's all that really matters.

You're either a master of sarcasm, or you completely misunderstood my comment.

re: pedals, I'm rather happy with the Wellgo B-67 pin pedals I put on my Globe Vienna (similar to a Sirrus)...

but I guess these could be considered 'shin shreaders', I dunno. I use them with either Keen sandals or regular walking shoes.

I'm rather curious about the Ergon pedals for a more comfort setup, but they are expensive. They come in a small and large size, the small size is pretty much 'normal' pedal size, and the large ones are really big, but do look like they'd work well with my size 12-13 E-EE feet.
