    help me please

    Hello,

I am going to start my new hobby of mountain biking but need a bike to start. I have no money at all to spend so I have been trying to barter. I have found someone willing to trade me my nintendo 3ds and playstation vita for a 1998 Rockey Mountain Vertex T.O. http://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/B...T.O.&Type=bike

The question is this a good starter bike even though its old. Said its been stored and hasnt rode due to knee injuries. Would a bike this old be worth what I am trading for?

    Thanks for all input.

if its in good shape and the same specs as you post, id def trade. pretty much full xtr cant go wrong.
with its age yould def want to invest in some basic bike mechanics tho if not already equipped to handle

I figure a 14 YO bike is worth about 1/4 of MSRP if it works well. That's about $800. Seems like a good trade to me.

Get it and ride. I'm guessing you are a younger person, and this is a great trade. Don't let it be stolen-- make sure you lock it up properly if you're commuting on it.

    Have fun!

That bike looks sweet! Maybe take it by a shop and have them tune it up/look it over for ya.

It's a good deal, definitely. However, it comes down to whether you want a bike that expensive. Though it is a good deal, if you do not want an $800 bike, then I would suggest going for something cheaper and perhaps saving the 3DS.

take into mind that fork is oooooooooooold. its 68mm. yeah...look it up.
also if you want disk brakes you can only in the front and thats if you upgrade the fork cuz that atom bomb doesnt support it.
the parts are definatly worth the price....a nice fork can be pricey too tho
