yep. go to your local shops, find one that fits/is comfortable. buy it. wear it.

pricewise, more $$$$$$ doesn't neccesarily = better protection. so long as they all meet the same testing standards, a helmet is a helmet is a helmet. but more $$$$$ helmets tend to fit better, vent better, and be more comfortable.

the main differences will be fit/sizing/comfort/ventilation.

most i've spent on a helmet was around $100.

If you try on a Giro Xen and like it, theyre going for $80 online somewhere....forget the store, just search.

If you're gonna try it on and take advanteage of their store front, I think it's only fair to buy it there.

The best way to test a helmet at the store is to just run head first into the wall. Trust me, the sales reps there won't care. :D :D :D

If you take my advice and try doing that, then please post on here what happened. LOL

xc,dh or dj style helmet???

I agree about supporting the LBS if you use them to try on products. However, if their price is unreasonable, which is often is, then go online. Many times an LBS will charge twice as much as an online retailer. In those cases I just can't support the LBS.

I like Pro-Tek bmx helmets. Check the line out if you can.

Loaf helmets are good, I think smash-shell are better. The have a bit more side\ back lower protection also.

Mine came with a second cloth\foam liner, washable.

DjRider04 01-31-05 03:45 PM

Im sorry but im not paying $150 for a helmet when I can get it online for $80.

snoopz666 01-31-05 03:49 PM

it depend what kinda helmet you want the giro xen is a nice helmet. but it depends what you want it for, i have a giro madmax II for all my Freeride/DH rideing
