Personally, Id buy the Klien, but thats because I generally like the Kliens, and dislike Treks... but it seems the bikes components are excellent, and they are very similar in that area... The Kleins are much better frames though so i would buy that...

I would have to def. say the Klein. The trek is made of carbon fiber, I don't know how strong that is off-road thats the only thing I would be worried about. Klein makes a nice bike.

Hey Guys. Thank you for your help. The TREK 9.8 sold for $1150 to someone else. I was leaning more towards the Klein because of frame structure and strength. I have never seen so many warranty replacements with the OCLV Carbon Frames of Trek as there to the Klein frames. Obviously they're are strong frames but can't take that day to day pounding like a Klein. Also, for some reason the guy was in a big hurry to sell the 9.8. He originally wanted $1350 for it and with no hesitation he settled for $1150. Kind of weird. Anyway thanks. The only things that I can upgrade on the Klein are the stem, handlebar, saddle, and headset. Otherwise it is FULL XTR race ready. Later.

I've always been a big fan of Kleins... they always have beautiful frames and paintjobs.. I'd have killed for a chance to get that nice of a bike for that insane price. You got a steal man.. good job.

Ride them. THey should have a fairly different feel to them, because Klien's geometry is so different (very long top tube in general etc.). Then go with what feels right. That's the only way to choose a bike anyway. Make sure you go over some bumps, corner some nice sharp turns etc.

My new (used but in perfect condition) Attitude Race frame arrived today.
2001 sprayed silver and gun metal ish, depending on angle and light - not flash but yet extremely flash at the same time...
I'm gobsmacked... its gorgeous.
Absolutely gorgeous.
Its almost worth the amount of customs and VAT I was charged for buying from the US... If it rides half as good as it looks I will *** in my pants (It cant be any worse than my beloved pulse)
ALWAYS buy klein! I AM biased. Even a "cheap" 98 pulse race with up to date components and forks craps over the other (more expensive) bikes in my house (Cannondale, GT, Kona)
Klein.

Amazing that Klein is owned by Trek and makes such great bikes... They must still be built in small quantities by someone who gives a crap.
