Hey everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. Handing down my old 2007 Diamondback Outlook Hardtail XC to my son and ready to move up to a 29er. Have a small budget as I just purchased a new Felt Z85 road bike and the wifey will kill me if I spend much more than $600.

Anyways, been checking out Craigslist and have come across a 2009 Gary Fisher Cobia and a 2009 Fuji Tahoe Comp, both 29ers. Both have similar components and have ridden both. Both ride great and are in great condition. Looking for some advice as I am unfamiliar with mountain bikes but really want to start doing some cross country style riding. I can get the Gary Fisher for between $575 - $600 and the Fuji for $350 - $400. Planning on making a final decision tomorrow so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

So checked out the Fuji, it was way too big. Have a few weeks before deciding on the GF Cobia but found a Felt Nine 60. I own a Felt road bike and love it. It's a new 13' while the Cobia is an 09'. Cobia has a RockShok Tora Ace Solo Air fork vs. the Felts XC30 spring loaded fork which I think is the biggest difference between the 2 besides the age. I can get the GF for between $550 - $600 and the Felt for $750. Going to test ride the Felt next week, won't see the owner of the GF for a few more weeks.
