Cars? Forget them, Im my own worst enemy.
Old wounds never heal.
Spent a week prepping my mtb to be pump and jump worthy for the local bike park, Rays. And oh boy my bike was going places, got a lot more air then I had expected. Feels like im riding a feather compared to the heavy rental bikes this place has. BUT 10 minutes in and Im out for the count, Dont jump really high with clip ins. Last jump in the pump track and I land on my back wheel but I dont go forward. My ass has a new crack. both my elbows have been skinned 3-4 times since the summer. They will never be the same...
I also like turning really fast and hard. I have almost lost track of the times i have skidded out.
I know this is a mtb story but I consider myself a roadie, I dont really fit in the mtb crowd. I would be riding on the road but its 0 degrees here.
I just cant go over 2 months without rehashing some old wound.

I wouldn't clip in if I wanted to go stunting on my mtb. If I did get it wrong I'd rather be away from the bike that stuck to it. Why not just good old wide bmx pedals with springs? Stick to your feet and offer more traction but you only have to let the pressure off and you are free.

I can't think of any reason to run anything but flats at Ray's.

Sorry, mtn bike discussion belongs in mtn bike forum, not in road.

Damn, left your guy out to dry with the big bad MTBers
I would say a decent pair of flats (& maybe some shin guards) are in order if you're going to be frequenting Ray's. The fun thing about jumping is that most people tend to make similar mistakes in form over & over before getting it right, so you get to rehash the same strawberry/gash/bruise that you've hit five times already

Holy cow. Yes, platforms for learning any new air . . . and for truly enjoying time at anywhere like Ray's.

I had no problem with my eggbeaters at Rays. Trashed my fork and rear hub though.
