Ok, can anyone find a better bike for 2000?

My bike store says they can give it for $2149 but the guy said he can take some $$ off. So assuming he takes $100-200 off of 2149, do you think you could find a better bike [new] than this one?:

I'm liking this one, I've been to a couple bike stores and have looked on the internet and feel this bike has really good components for the price compared to things like the 2000 dollar santa cruz heckler I looked at in the bike store and compared to the cannondales I looked at. I've looked at specialized bikes and I don't feel like any of them suit me.

I'm also looking at the Transition Covert which seems to be around 2000 dollars as well but I'm not sure on that.

The Kona bikes seem to be a lil much for me and I don't want any more than 140 mm traveli in front, 130 suits me it seems, but not sure if I've missed anything.

Do they have a Top Fuel 69er in stock? Might be worth a try. It's a little more expensive, unless you can get a discount on it as well. It's also only 100mm in front, but with a 29er wheel it might soak up a lot of the bumps. I have no idea if this interests you, but I am curious to read reviews on any of Trek's 69ers. I really want one.

I dunno I can't spend anymore than 2000, even that is a lot for me right now, so that is prob. outta the question seeing as it's more expensive by a good amount.

I've been looking at these new Fuel EX's as well and everything I have found so far has been positive. I'm hoping for a Fuel EX 9 but am waiting for the new Blur LT to come out before I make my decision.

If you like it, buy it. You probably won't get a better deal unless you get very lucky or find something used. At least this way you get a warranty.

Im pretty close to buying it. Just looked through the cannondales and dont see much I like although what they have is pretty good and all. Just wanted to see what others thought/check before I make such a decision

The new LX hollowtech, thanks to Shimano's trickle down technology, is a solid crank and weighs very little more than XT. You can hold your held high man!

Also the other bikes I looked at, santa cruz and cannondale...many of them had these "external" bottom bracket bearings or something. I'd never heard of that til now. I don't think the trek has em but o well!
