Might be getting a trek 4500 alpha in very good condition, but not sure what style or type the bike is(cross country/free ride/ hard tail ect.) So can somebody tell me what type it is and the main purpose of ride that should be done on this bike. I'll link a pic of it

What year is that? 2000-2005? In any case, if it's near the $300 budget mentioned in your other thread, I think you could definitely do better on a used bike. That was probably only a ~$400 bike to begin with, so it's not worth nearly that now that it's older and used. It doesn't matter if it was "barely used." It's still used and an old model. If it's listed for $100, it's probably a decent value.

The bike is a 2002 Trek 4500, bikepedia have a wrong color listed it should say Black/Gold not Grey/Gold.
The Trek 4500 is what you'd call a recreational hardtail XC bike.
Hardtail bikes don't have rear suspension.
XC = Cross Country
A 'recreational bike' will be cheaper, heavier and have lower grade components then a 'race bike'
XC Cycling
Do a search on youtube for XC mountain biking or cross country mountain biking.
