Here is a video from a local freeride group called the enviromental vandals, The group was formed by Grant Allen and all this footage is shot around my way. I do need to find out exactly where some of this stuff is, ie the two kickers to down ramp, possibly step up and some of the road gaps

http://www.snowpics.net/view_single.php?medid=2724

Sorry it is about 13.5 mb, is well worth it.

Oh yeah the huge step down you see side on is the one that Grant Allen did in Disorder V.

Damn they have some nice trails. If I had a full squish, and some nice trails I'd do all the jumps from the first half.

Cool video.

Because of the song, I coulnd't help comparing it to the Utah part of the Collective.

Those riders look like they land really well, smooth and etc.

The name enviromental vandals is actually meant to be contradictive. Down here in Adelaide there are hardly any trails and we make our own. Council's know of these trails and don't mind us riding them. BUT the locals all think we are destroying the enviroment, however all the tracks are made to have as little impact on the land as possible. It is really a joke to the mountain bikers, and it is actually improving awareness to the locals as they are now getting the contradiction to the name.

Yeah the jumps are meant to be really good. The big step up has a 37ft and I want to try it It has a huge hill before where you can easily get speed and my jumping style would suit the type of jump. But it is only doable on non windy days.

Oh. My take on the "environmental vandal" thing was different, like maybe they would write graffiti using moss or break into buildings and plant trees....

Yeah, they have T shirts with "Environmental Vandal" on the front and on the back, "I just want to ride my bike" . It kind of clears it up when you read the back.

Cool vid.

But the trails no matter how hard you try not to, are still going to destroy the environment in a sense.

Ah, thats where sustainable trails come into the picture, as most legal trails already are. In fact, i heard that for every tree removed here in Australia in order to make track, they need to replant 4 to make up for it. Maybe they're doing the environment a favour by building trails

In thredbo, Australias most famous DH place. The tracks are in a national park, so they actually DO HAVE TO plant 4 trees for every tree they take out.

surely if they do that then eventually Aus will be covered in trees, and every time theey go to build a new trail they will spend more time replanting than building, and eventually there will be nowhere left?

Sweet trails though, and the vid is really high quality. Do you know how long it took for all those trails to be built?

Nah sorry I don't know how long they they took to build, but the area with the gaps has been in use for about a year and it only takes them a couple of days to make each stunt. That palnting tree's thing is only in national parks and the parks provide the trees.
