What particularly impressed me with these pedals was the thought shimano put into the pins. Only one set of pins, want the pins longer, removed the spacers from the pins, want them shorter leave the spacers on them.

Well, almost. Would have been better if they hadn't run full-length threads, since they screw in from behind. When you start smashing them and mauling threads, you'll be wanting to chase them or cut 'em off flush before you back 'em out so they don't bugger the holes in the pedal body.

Same pin style as the vaults I had I never messed the pins up on them.

I want to like them, but the pedal profile makes my feet hurt, so back on with the vaults.

I had the same experience with mine as well. And the general surface area was a bit too small for what I'd like/accustom to. Flipped them to a friend who seems to like them. Still a fan of Spank Spikes and Vaults for that general price range.
