Replacing My SR Suntour XCT V2 crankset.....question....

I have a 2011 Diamondback Response MTB. I have put a lot of mods into the bike, only things that are left stock are the Suntour XCT V2 cranks and matching XCT V2 fork. The crankset weighs about 1100g, and the fork 2600g....THATS HEAVY! I plan to change the fork with a fox air fork of some sort...should drop about 2 1/2lb or so there and then change the Crankset to a Sugino Impel Triple. The sugino crank is this one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sugino-Impel...item589c4cb037.

Does anyone have any experience with this crankset? Its 690g which is way lighter than the Suntour thats on the bike right now. Just want to hear from people who have used the Sugino Cranks to see if they can stand up to some abuse. Thanks!

JensonUsa has brand new raceface cranks with bb (both ride xc and ride am) for the same price and you get to ditch the square taper

Instead of buying a new Crankset I actually just took a Deore LX M563 crank off my old univega Alpina, and replaced the Suntour XCT V2. The XCT V2 was around 1103g, the Deore LX is 696g. I shaved almost one whole pound off the bike by just removing the crappy SR Suntour cranks. They are steel chainrings, and riveted so you cant change the rings, next up is putting on a air fork and getting rid of the LAST Suntour parts that are on the bike the XCT V2 fork.

I bought a Sugino Impel and used it on a flip bike. IMHO, it's not much better than the crank you have, just lighter. I like both of the options that andyfloyd and MisterK recommended better than the Impel. I mean you're going with a FOX shock, I'd upgrade the crank as well. I've gone with late model XT used stuff off ebay.
