I just saw that Walmart is now offering a Hyper bike with Cam Zink's name on it. (I seem to remember Hyper being a big BMX name...when did they end up in Walmart?). http://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Hyper-C...Black/21616173
While I'm a bit amused that is has a chainguide, and it does look a little better than most of Walmart's offerings, what really caught my eye was this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/DK-Xenia-26-BMX-Bike/17012261
And this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/DK-Dayton-...-Bike/17012260
Whoa! Those actually look legit. When did Walmart start selling legit bikes? I don't know when DK ended up in Walmart either, but if someone came to me and said they absolutely had no bike shops to go to, I think I might actually tell them to pick up one of those over something from BikesDirect. I bet they're heavy, but you can do a lot worse. If they're constructed by Walmart employees, you might want to check their assembly, but hey, BD bikes don't come assembled either.
I think that's what I'm going to do now. Every time I see someone suggesting BikesDirect, I'm going to suggest a Walmart DK.
