opinions/thoughts Giant Boulder MTB?
I have had and sold a Giant XTC. I am looking at getting an inexpensive MTB to ride the GAP and C&O Towpath. My LBS whose great has Boulder listing at $360.00. I have a good set of Mavic 26" wheels and a Rock Shox with poploc I can replace front fork but the idea is an inexpensive towpath light duty single track MTB. Any opinions on the Boulder. I have a couple Giants liked them when they weren't the buzz word bike. Thanks Larry

The Boulder's fine, and more than capable for light duty singletrack...but wait, you sold an XTC so you could buy a Boulder? Why? The XTC is a way better bike.

Give people a chance, you only posted the question 45 minutes before this!
For the Boulder, nothing wrong with it, but it isn't anything different from any other bike at that price point, you haven't given details of the model year, and Rock Shox make a lot of forks with poploc, same for Mavic, they make a lot of rims, at all price points, but not wheels; a set of basic Crossrides is $275 from JensonUSA.
Going with Zepher11 here, the XTC is a massive step down from an XTC, even the bottom level XTC3, you will notice that.

Sorry guys I should of done a better job of explaining what I'm asking. I had the XTC for a while several years ago. Yes great bike way better than Boulder SE. Sold the XTC and did only touring and paved roads. Want to do some way easy singletrack and the Gap/C&O towpath. Never had a Boulder. I paid like 50 bucks for this used one. Guy switched out front wheel to disc has low end Altus or something like that. I have an Iron Horse Maverick dual suspension that I upgraded the components to LX and added Tora with poploc. The bike is heavy so I was looking for something inexpensive and the Boulder SE came along.
The PO left standard brakes on the rear and added disc brake to front. Everything else is stock so I guess for 50 bucks it probably wasn't worth posting.. I appreciate everyones responses. Thanks Wardie
