I'm looking for a hardtail to get in shape. It's been a long time since I've ridden a MTN bike, as I've been riding my dirtbike alot. What I wanna know is which hard tails have super long wheelbases? It just feels too weird riding a little twitchy mountain bike.

Thanx,

I'm on AIM, my name is Perpacity.

Most (not all) mountain bikes have 16.75" chainstays, which are suited very well for XC riding and tight singletrack climbing. As you get further toward DH geometries the chainstays lengthen (18+ inches) as well as the overall wheelbase. Look for frames that are aimed at the 'freeride' market as they are likely to be a compromise between really slow handling DH bikes and twitchy XC bikes. Of course there's always the custom route.....(sorry, I just couldn't help but throw that in!)
