650c vs. 26"
I have some Conti Gran Prix (#25-559) road tires that fit my MTB wheels for road use. However, I'm trying to find a new set and nobody seems to sell this particular model number even though Conti still makes them. This got me wondering if any 650c tire can fit a 26" rim. I figured I'd ask before I ordered something.

Yes, 650c and 26" are the same size. I have an older hardrock with 650c slicks on it for riding on the street.

I called one of the local bike shops and they said I need a 650c tire with '559' specified on the side, which is exactly what my currents ones have one them. Typical 650c tires are listed as 571(mm), so they are too large for the beads to fit properly it seems.
notfred, what exact model tires are you using? If you have a link, that'd help.

you should be able to look on a site like mtbr.com and see what tires would work for you.

I think one of the best slicks is the Ritchey Tom slick tires. They last a really long time and they are fast. I think they weigh 300 for the 1" and 350 for the 1.4. At under 20 bucks a tire they are a winner
