Brake cable question...
My new Avid mech BB7's are on their way. Just wondering if specialty brake cables are worth the cost. Been looking at these ...

How much of a performance improvement are we talking about; 20 to 25%, or more like 5 to 10% ?
I currently have Deore levers and ride strictly XC trails.

I've run generic teflon cables inside bulk reel Jagwire teflon housing and had excellent results with my BB7's.
I'm currently using a set of Gore Ride on cables that I got way below retail and I still didn't see any drastic improvement over the Teflon/ Teflon combo though I'll admit that the "sealed" bit is kinda cool.
When it's time to do the cable swap next time I'm probably going to try the Aztec Powerlines.

My bike has some generic cables and jagwire housings.. they seem to work quite well. I've ridden through many many rainstorms and haven't noticed any gritty feel or anything catching in the travel. I can't say I've had any problems out of them.
