Rigid 29er tapered steerer fork
Does anyone have any experience swapping a suspension fork for a rigid on their 29er? I do a lot of bikepaking and bikerafting with my bike loaded up on mostly dirt roads. I took my bike to the shop b/c the lock out on my Recon Silver was not working. They said it needs to be serviced every 50 hours or so. I'd been thinking about swapping to a rigid before but now I think I'm sold. I like the idea if going carbon, but not the price. Are there any chromoly or steel rigid 29er tapered steerer forks?

I doubt you are going to see a steel tapered steerer. I have thought about making one, but it would be hard to do without making it extremely heavy. Probably better just to get a headset that will take a 1 1/8 adapter
