catamount bike frame**********??
Hey whats up. Well ill get right too the point. Does any body know anything about the Catamount URT frame that is for sale on Cambria bicycle.com https://www.cambriabike.com/ . Is it a good deal for the money? Cause i want to build my next XC bike for the new year. Ive always rode hardtails, so just wondering if any body new about this beast. Thanks for the info in advance.......Peace

Don't know about the Catamount specifically, but the "URT" (unified rear triangle) technology was used by Trek and a few others some years back and has fallen by the wayside. Lots of pedal-induced bobbing on the Trek I rode once, and (most troubling in my book) since the bottom bracket moves with the suspension, your feet change position in relation to your hands as the suspension moves. I found the sensation really weird. Also, it may just be a trick of the photography in the built-up ones they show, but the standover height looks scary high. I involuntarily clench my twig and berries every time I see a pic ;-)
It's cheap as heck, but I think you'd be better off spending a bit more (or looking at something used) and getting a more current technology, whether 4-bar, single pivot, etc.
